TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama basketball and head coach Nate Oats have made another step towards completing their 2023-24 roster with the addition of Hofstra transfer Aaron Estrada.

The 6-foot-3 guard was one of the most prolific scorers in all of college basketball last season, ranking in the top 25 of all players in the sport with 20.2 points per game. In addition to his scoring proficiencies, he grabbed 5.5 rebounds and dished out 4.3 assists per contest.

Estrada's efforts earned him Player of the Year honors in the Colonial Athletic Association for the second consecutive year, following up his junior campaign in 2021-22 that saw him average 18.5 points per game.

This upcoming season will be Estrada's fifth, with him exercising his extra COVID year of eligibility as a graduate transfer. Before spending the past two seasons at Hofstra, he played sparingly in one year at Oregon and one year at St. Peter's, making this his fourth school.

Offensively, Estrada's scoring ability will be a welcomed addition to the Crimson Tide rotation. He features a plethora of offensive skills including 3-level scoring capabilities, a tight handle and pinpoint accuracy off the bounce.

Oats and newly-hired assistant coach Ryan Pannone will have a field day creating lineups and sets that both compliment and feature Estrada's best attributes in Oats' typical high-powered offensive system.

With Estrada's addition, Alabama's roster for next season is slowly starting to take shape. The Crimson Tide is still awaiting decisions from three players testing NBA Draft waters in Jahvon Quinerly, Mark Sears and Charles Bediako.

Both Nimari Burnett and Jaden Bradley are transferring out of the program, while Wichita State transfer Jaykwon Walton committed to join Alabama earlier this month.

Including those testing the draft waters as members of the roster, Alabama has two open scholarships remaining.
