Follow a breakdown of the five major players at the position during the spring below with ASU on SI.

AJ Ia
Ia is an incredible athlete, standing at 6'6" and moving akin to a wide receiver when running routes - potentially even evoking throwback familiarity to Rob Gronkowski during his career at the University of Arizona.
Jason Mohns appeared to be thoroughly impressed with how much the redshirt freshman has grown over the last year, and the California native is certainly in line for a role that is drastically increased in 2026.

Khamari Anderson
Anderson is coming back for year two in Tempe as well after previously playing at Kentucky - he was one of the defined standouts of fall camp leading up to last season, but unfortunately fell victim to Chamon Metayer being an incumbent starter and Cameron Harpole rising to a high degree.
Anderson is now in league with Ia in terms of competition for the starting spot on the depth chart, although both are more receiving threats than blockers.

Kristian Ingman
Ingman is a very interesting name, as he is making the jump from FCS to power four level following two seasons at Portland State.

His first season of action in 2025 yielded 342 receiving yards and an average of 14.9 yards per catch, suggesting he will slot in as a valuable vertical field stretcher at times in 2026.

Anthony Miller
Miller is another big body in the tight end room - he also carries experience that has to be respected.
The redshirt junior played over 400 snaps last season for the AAC champions and College Football Playoff representatives in Tulane - he now brings that experience to Mohns' room in Tempe.

Landen Miree
Miree is one of two freshmen on the roster at the position, along with Hayden Vercher. Miree's path to Tempe was an interesting one, as he happened upon Arizona State by chance during a layover in Phoenix. There is a palpable sense of excitement for his future, and Mohns was very open about how far the Ohio native has come since officially moving to campus at the beginning of the semester.
