RECRUITING NOTES: Petrino Visits Greenwood’s Archer Brothers

Top quarterback Kane Archer and brother Cash are Greenwood’s next great sibling duo

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino and wide receivers coach Ronnie Fouch were in Greenwood on Wednesday to visit with Kane and Cash Archer.

A source told allHOGS the visit went “Great, super great! [Coaches] loved Kane!”

Obviously, the Razorbacks offered Kane, a sophomore quarterback, as an eighth-grader. With Cash playing primarily at defensive end throughout his career, the thought is him playing more outside linebacker for the Bulldogs will open up his recruitment.

Cash currently holds offers from Ole Miss, Arkansas State, Tulane and Louisville. He currently stands at 6-2, 222 pounds. He has exceptional speed in the 5-10-5 yard splits at 4.19 seconds. As a junior, he recorded 78 tackles, 29 tackles for loss and 20 sacks.

For Kane, the sophomore passer was elite, leading the Bulldogs to another 6A state title, his first as a starter. The 6-1, 201-pound quarterback completed 74% of his passes for 2,399 yards, 33 touchdowns against three interceptions. He displayed exceptional scrambling ability, rushing for 659 yards, and 16 touchdowns.

Tuesday, Kane was extended a scholarship offer from SMU. Former Arkansas quarterback Rhett Lashlee is the head coach of the Mustangs and continues to actively recruit in his home state (being a native of Northwest Arkansas).

Florida State, Arizona, Kentucky, Michigan, Miami, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas A&M are other teams which remain in the mix for the younger Archer.

The Razorbacks have an opportunity to string together a couple of solid classes, especially in-state, with several key targets in the 2025 class. Ten prospects in the state of Arkansas are currently ranked in the 247sports rankings.

Marion lineman Carius Curne, Parkview safety Omarion Robinson, Central Arkansas Christian quarterback and Razorback commit Grayson Wilson, Parkview quarterback Quinten Murphy and Bauxite safety Marcus Wimberly headline a deep in-state class.

St. Louis 4-star tailback Jamarion Parker committed to the Razorbacks before the season. Other top prospects looking hard at Arkansas are 4-star receiver Cooper Perry (Scottsdale, Arizona), 4-star tight end Nate Roberts (Washington, Oklahoma), offensive linemen Blake Cherry (Owasso, Oklahoma , 3-star Kash Courtney (Carthage, Texas) and 4-star Jack Lange (Eureka, Missouri).

Defensive back Leon Almanza (Trophy Club, Texas), Zay Gentry (McKinney, Texas) and Nathan Tilmon (Mansfield, Texas) are a solid trio without a ranking, but should receive high 3 to 4-star ratings once the spring evaluation period begins.

Athlete Noah Mikhail received a relatively early offer last summer when he visited Arkansas. He visited during the July cookout and was paid a visit by defensive coordinator Travis Williams. The Razorbacks are making Mikhail a priority recruit this cycle.

Likely to play linebacker at the next level, the Bonita, California native recorded 166 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 12 quarterback hurries, one sack and a pair of interceptions in 2023. Mikhail is ranked as the No. 45 overall prospect in the country, per 247sports composite rankings.
