UPDATE: Arkansas Razorback basketball sports information director Mike Cawood made the following official release:
"Arkansas senior guard Davonte Davis has stepped away from the program."

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Multiple tips coming to the allHogs offices around 2:30 p.m. today indicate beloved Arkansas Razorbacks guard Davote Davis left the team.

allHogs editor Kent Smith reached out to an administrative official in the athletics office for confirmation and did not receive a denial. As of 4:15 p.m. Davis had not been spotted on the floor with the team.

Coach Eric Musselman and Davis have been known to have a father-son relationship. The bond was displayed following Davis’ iconic 25 points, 8 rebound performance in the round of 32 against No. 1 seed Kansas last season.

Davis has seen a noticeable drop off in production for the senior who was expected to be the leader upon which Musselman constructed this year's team. The Jacksonville native is averaging a career-low 6.3 points per game with a dip in rebounds to a shade above four. His field goal percentage has plummeted to a career-low 35% while only knocking down 23% of his three-point attempts.

Playing only seven minutes in a blowout loss to Ole Miss earlier this week, going out in the first half and not returning. He was one of only three players to not play double-digit minutes. Lately, Davis has been more known for his technical fouls, attacking Auburn's Chad Baker-Mazara out of nowhere and getting thrown out for kicking a Texas A&M player between the legs.

This follows a junior season when Davis posted career numbers across the board with 11 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 35% from three point range. No official word has come down as to whether Davis has officially left the team or a temporary leave of absence. It's a question Musselman will certainly face at game's end.
