Arkansas Athletics Director Squashes Musselman Rumor Mill in 15-Second Skit

Razorbacks fans get opportunity to relax, enjoy transfer portal now

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas athletics director Hunter Yurachek confirmed coach Eric Musselman will return as Razorbacks head coach for the 2024-25 season.

Yurachek posted a video of him sitting on a Razorback Transit bus with the Musselman hopping on to drive the bus, a play on the “Muss Bus” term synonymous with his tenure as coach.

Musselman had been linked to various openings on the coaching carousel since the Razorbacks finished March 14 at the hands of South Carolina in the second round of the SEC Tournament. Most notably, Musselman was linked to the SMU job after the Mustangs fired Rob Lanier after just two seasons at the helm.

The announcement of Musselman’s return comes on the heels of his most tumultuous season at Arkansas. He finished with a record under .500 for the first time in his college coaching career (16-17) and 6-12 in SEC play after starting the season ranked inside the Top 15 in the initial AP Poll.

Musselman has lost a significant portion of his roster to the transfer portal with four players already entering the transfer portal. Joseph Pinion, Keyon Menifield, Davonte “Devo” Davis and Layden Blocker all chose to continue their college careers elsewhere.

Despite some traction with an incoming transfer class, Musselman has yet to land a player out of the portal. The 2024-25 official roster has just eight players including incoming freshman Isaiah Elohim and Jalen Shelley and walk-ons Cade Arbogast and Blake Lawson.
