Auburn Quarterback Recruiting Continues To Be Hard To Project After Under Armour Atlanta

Which quarterback recruit will Auburn sign?

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Auburn Tigers need to find and sign a 2025 quarterback recruit.

After seeing two of the Tigers' top signal-callers in action during Under Armour Atlanta, there are still many questions about whether either quarterback prospect will eventually sign with the rest of the 2025 Auburn recruiting class

First up, it's Julian "Ju Ju" Lewis, the second-ranked recruit nationally by Rivals. He did visit Auburn a few weeks ago. That being true, Lewis left the UA Camp at the same high school he attends in Carrollton, Ga. without taking questions from the vast majority of the recruiting analysts in attendance. Point blank, more clarification about his recruitment would be nice.

Here's a fantastic pass from Lewis during Under Armour Atlanta:

Lewis, along with his father T.C. Lewis, did recently tell Jeff Sentell of Dawgnation some intriguing points about his recruitment. While Mr. Lewis admits that Bama, Auburn, UGA, and USC are in contention and Colorado is intriguing as well, the younger Lewis also expanded a little bit on his recruitment with Sentell.

“I’m still committed to USC like you said. But I mean I’m still looking around. Just to hang around. Georgia is close. ‘Bama is close. Stuff like that. But I’m still locked in with USC. 100 percent.”

The interview went live on Sunday, Feb. 18. That's about as fresh as it gets. Perhaps more information is needed, but the signal-caller not mentioning Auburn directly, at a bare minimum, leaves more questions.

Maybe Auburn's status with Lewis is better defined as unknown?

Beyond that interview, the scuttlebutt around Lewis's recruitment would be that he eventually flips his commitment to Georgia. Without Lewis directly answering questions from several different people at Under Armour Atlanta, it's kind of hard to know how true that is; it's also hard to know more about Auburn's recruitment of Lewis as well.

There is another more likely passer to end up signing with Auburn and he should be recognizable to Tigers fans. That would be Saraland (Ala.) High School quarterback KJ Lacey, the #18 player nationally by Rivals. He took a few minutes after UA Atlanta to discuss his recruitment, including where Auburn stands.

"Auburn, Ole Miss, obviously Texas, Oregon." Those are the first four programs Lacey went with after being asked which schools are still coming after him.

The Tigers are certainly putting in the work to flip Lacey's commitment from Texas.

"It's coach Hugh (Freeze) and coach Jesse Stone," Lacey stated as the Auburn coaches recruiting him the most. Both of them. "And coach (Kent) Austin. Those (first) two are the main ones though."

When asked about visiting Auburn for a spring practice, here's Lacey's response.

"Yeah, I have to see what's going on and decide if I am going to go or not." Continuing about his visits, he does have the Horns coming up.

"Just Texas. It's in early April I think, and I'm going back to the spring game, too."

With Lacey, the unknown factor with Alabama is also interesting.

"I really don't know too much about the Alabama thing going on right now," Lacey stated with a smile and a laugh. With Kalen DeBoer taking over in Tuscaloosa, the recruiting board may or may not be set at quarterback. Perhaps it will be a little while before Lacey or anyone else knows if the Tide truly goes after him.

There's also the question of whether Auburn could go after Cutter Woods from Anderson (S.C.) Westside. Recently offered by the Tigers, let's see if he makes the trek from his hometown to the Plains this spring and then go from there.

There's a long way to go in the 2025 recruiting cycle. For now, Auburn's quarterback recruiting is a bit difficult to project.
