Georgia Signs 5-Star KJ Bolden

It's been a tremendous National Signing Day for Hugh Freeze and the Tigers, but it did not work out for 5-star safety KJ Bolden. The Buford (Ga.) High School recruit is headed to Athens, Ga. to play for the Georgia Bulldogs.

His original commitment to FSU took place on Aug. 5, 2023. From there, his list of schools changed, but Bolden's recruitment was not truly over. Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson faded, while Georgia, Florida State, and Auburn continued to battle it out.

Several different twists and turns took place, and the intel on where Bolden was leaning would change frequently, as well as differ from one source to another. The bottom line, UGA was the school that eventually won his signature.

His recruitment took an entire staff effort. Seeing Bolden play, the effort was worth it.

A 6-foot and 185 pounds, Bolden's suddenness, open-field speed, penchant for physical contact, hand-eye coordination, and instincts to easily track the football make him a natural free safety. If he picks off a pass or the opposition kicks him the football, Bolden's offensive skills will be showcased as well.

Some of Bolden's best senior highlights come from him picking off a pass and racing toward and into the end zone; teams that kicked him the football ran the risk of watching him score that way as well.

All of his skills made Bolden's future an interesting one during the earlier stages of his prep career. He made a choice on what position he wanted to play for a specific reason though.

Despite the ability to play cornerback, wide receiver, or running back, he prefers safety because that's the position Bolden believes will provide him the best opportunity to one day reach the NFL. For at least the next three college football seasons, Bolden will be honing his football skills inside Sanford Stadium.
