A War-Eagle welcome for #1 LSU baseball when it visits Auburn this Saturday
If you have ever seen one of the eagles circle Jordan-Hare Stadium, you know how it is one of the most awe-inspiring spectacles in all of sports. For the first time ever, the greatest tradition that has ever graced football, will spread its wings to a different sport.
When Auburn Baseball hosts the #1 LSU squad this Saturday night, one of Auburn’s eagles, Independence, who clocks in right at seven pounds with a little over six-foot wingspan, will make the first-ever eagle flight at Plainsman Park.
The first untethered flight in Jordan-Hare was in the year 2000. Twenty-three years later, the female raptor ambassador, that has been in Auburn’s care since 2018, will take flight at approximately 7:58 PM CT.
Perhaps while she is impressing the LSU Tigers with her beauty, she can inspire the Auburn Baseball Tigers to win a series they need badly to have a shot at the postseason.
The football version of the Tigers has had ten players depart from the program within the last few weeks, including three backup linebackers:
Quarterback TJ Finley
Wide receiver Tar'Varish Dawson
Wide receiver Landen King
Offensive lineman Colby Smith
Defensive lineman Jeffrey M'ba
Defensive lineman Tobechi Okoli
Defensive end Dylan Brooks
Linebacker Kameron Brown
Linebacker Desmond Tisdol
Linebacker Powell Gordon
Auburn has pulled in an impressive haul thus far during Hugh Freeze's first season on the Plains, currently sitting at No. 3 nationally in 247Sports' transfer portal class rankings.
