Another week of SEC baseball brought some surprises and excitement, as we see every week in the best conference for college baseball.

Weather played a significant role this weekend, leading to multiple double headers and games being postponed.

We didn't get to see the rubber match between South Carolina and LSU, which was a bummer as it would have been an instant classic.

Let's look at our eight SEC baseball power rankings.

14. Ole Miss Rebels

Record: 18-13 (2-10 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 10

Week Eight Recap: Ole Miss has a horrific start to SEC play. To give them the benefit of the doubt, they have played some really tough teams to get this gauntlet started. The Rebels began SEC play similarly a season ago and went on to win the National Championship, so you still can't rule this team out. A series win against Mississippi State would be an excellent kickstart to turn things around.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue Memphis, Wed Alcorn State. Weekend Series: @ Mississippi State

13. Auburn Tigers

Record: 19-12-1 (4-8 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 12

Week Eight Recap: Auburn had a tough week losing the series to Texas A&M in front of their home crowd. The positives were Bobby Peirce and Cooper McMurray are both back and playing good baseball. This Tiger team has an elite offense, but the pitching has been rough. If some relievers can start separating themselves, this team could make a late run, but if the relievers continue to struggle, this team could drop a lot of games down the stretch.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue @Georgia Tech. Weekend Series: @Alabama

12. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Record: 19-14 (3-9 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 14

Week Eight Recap: It was a rough start for Mississippi State but are things starting to turn around? The Bulldogs took a game against South Carolina two weeks ago and won a series on the road against Alabama this weekend. They are putting up more runs which leads me to believe the bats are getting hot. They host another struggling team in Ole Miss this weekend. If they can win the series against the defending National Champions, perhaps the tide is changing for this ball club.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue @UAB. Weekend Series: Ole Miss

11. Alabama Crimson Tide

Record: 23-10 (4-8 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 11

Week Eight Recap: Alabama lost their series to Mississippi State in T-Town. The Tide won the run differential but wasn't able to collect the series. They have a chance to redeem this series loss as they host their arch-nemesis, the Auburn Tigers. If Alabama is able to win this series, it will revamp its post-season hopes.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue Southern Miss. Weekend Series: Auburn

10. Georgia Bulldogs

Record: 18-14 (3-9 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 13

Week Eight Recap:Georgia had a big series win, defeating the top ten Kentucky Wildcats. They held a Wildcat offense that has been hot of late to only nine runs on the weekend. This is a big feat for a pitching staff that has struggled early this season. If they beat Clemson in their midweek showdown and then take a game from the Florida Gators, this Bulldog team could be primed to go on a little run.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Wed: Clemson. Weekend Series: @ #3 Florida

9. Missouri Tigers

Record: 20-11 (4-8 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 7

Week Eight Recap: Missouri has lost three straight series after sweeping the Tennessee Volunteers the first week of conference play. They did take a game from Vandy this weekend and played them close in another. Missouri is the real deal and has played some of the best teams in the SEC tight all year. A series win at Texas A&M would go a long way for this ball club.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue @Missouri State. Weekend Series: @Texas A&M

8. Tennessee Volunteers (16)

Record: 22-10 (5-7 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 8

Week Eight Recap: Tennessee lost their series at home against the Florida Gators. It has been a rough stretch of the schedule for the Vols, as after this upcoming weekend will have played the number 1, 3, and 5 teams in the country over a three week span. Tennessee needs to start winning some ball games, and they will look to do that this weekend on the road at Arkansas.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue: EKU. Weekend Series: @ #5 Arkansas

7. Texas A&M Aggies

Record: 20-12 (5-7 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 9

Week Eight Recap: Texas A&M has won back-to-back series defeating the Ole Miss Rebels and Auburn Tigers. They headed to the Plains and won the series over Auburn this past week, scoring a whopping 28 runs. This team had a rough start to SEC play but is getting hot at the right time.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue: UTSA. Weekend Series: Missouri

6. Kentucky Wildcats (12)

Record: 27-5 (9-3 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 6

Week Eight Recap: Kentucky lost their first SEC series of the year after dropping two of three to the Georgia Bulldogs on the road. The Wildcats won the series opener, then lost both games of the Saturday doubleheader. This upcoming week will make or break their season. The Wildcats play four road games, one being at their rival #10 Louisville, then down to the Bayou to play the best team in the nation, LSU. If they go 2-2 this week, Kentucky is the real deal, and there is no longer a debate.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue: @#10 Louisville. Weekend Series: @#1 LSU

5. Arkansas Razorbacks (5)

Record: 25-6 (8-4 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 5

Week Eight Recap: Arkansas has won two straight series after dropping their three-game set against LSU. The Razorbacks headed to Ole Miss and took two of this last weekend scoring 21 runs. They host the Vols this week in what will be an excellent series. If they win this series, the Razorbacks will further add to their case as one of the best teams in the country.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue/Wed Little Rock. Weekend Series: #16 Tennessee

4. Florida Gators (3)

Record: 27-6 (9-3 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 4

Week Eight Recap: Florida headed to Knoxville and beat Tennessee in a three-game set. Florida's mix of pitching and offense is just scary. I currently have the Gators right up there with LSU as my two favorites to win the National Championship. The Gators host Georgia this weekend in a series that, if all goes to plan, they should sweep.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek Tue: Florida State. Weekend Series: Georgia

3. South Carolina Gamecocks (6)

Record: 28-4 (9-2 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 3

Week Eight Recap: South Carolina split their series with LSU 1-1 as rain prevented the rubber match from taking place. This is one of the biggest letdowns of the season, as this series had been a ton of fun through the first two games. The Gamecocks will have another big series this upcoming weekend as they head to Music City to take on Vandy. This series should solidify who the second-best team in the SEC is. Get your popcorn ready for this one.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue SC Upstate. Weekend Series: @#4 Vanderbilt

2. Vanderbilt Commodores (4)

Record: 26-6 (11-1 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 2

Week Eight Recap: Vanderbilt won two of three on the road at Missouri this past weekend. They held Missouri to only 11 runs, so this Commodore pitching staff is starting to shove. As I said, this weekend will be one of the most fun series of the season as Vandy hosts South Carolina. Vanderbilt will put their 4-0 series win streak on the line in front of their home crowd.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue: North Alabama. Weekend Series: #6 South Carolina

1. LSU Tigers (1)

Record: 26-5 (7-4 SEC)

Last Week's Rank: 1

Week Eight Recap: LSU split their series with South Carolina since rain prevented game three. LSU has looked like the best team in the nation all year which is why they have let to lose the number one ranking all year. The Bayou Bengals will host an outstanding Kentucky team this weekend, looking to win another SEC series. I expect this team to make a deep run leading to them heading to Omaha.

Week Nine Opponents: Midweek: Tue: Tulane. Weekend Series: #12 Kentucky
