Some photos from Auburn baseball's Saturday practice
The College Baseball season is almost here.
This week, Auburn baseball opened the doors to Plainsman Park for fans to see the team practice and then battle it on in an intrasquad-type game as they prepare for the season.
Butch Thompson and the Auburn Tigers will begin their season against Eastern Kentucky in a three-game series starting Friday, February 16th.
They'll then play UAB in a mid-week game before heading to the Jax College Baseball Classic to face Iowa, Wichita State, and Virginia all in Jacksonville, Florida.
Auburn brings back a lot of production this season. Standout sophomores Chris Stanfield and Ike Irish will both look to build on their young but impressive Auburn careers. Joseph Gonzalez's return is expected to bring leadership to the mound for the Auburn pitching staff.

Auburn baseball will look to build on the success found in recent years under Thompson. Last season, Auburn went 34-23-1 on the year. They went 17-13 in SEC play and found themselves in a situation to host a regional. The Tigers lost to Penn and Southern Miss in their two postseason games.
Irish will be a focal point for Auburn's offense. As a true freshman in 2023, he led Auburn with a .361 batting average and in hits with 86 on the year. Stanfield led Auburn in stolen bases with eight.
Fans can see Thompson's Tigers practice on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, practice will be at noon CT and an intrasquad game will begin at 1:30. On Sunday, practice will begin at 1 pm CT and an intrasquad game will begin at 3 pm CT.
