The Auburn Tigers picked up their first win of the season in a hard-fought matchup with Southeastern Louisiana in which the Tigers pulled off an 86-71 win.

Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl was not satisfied after Auburn's win.

“I’m still not happy," Pearl said. "We gave up 43 points in the second half, 54 against Baylor. That’s 97 points in the second half of basketball. That’s just not really good enough. We only turned them (Southeastern Louisiana) over one time in the second half. I’m still having to coach effort and energy, and that’s a problem. I think the thing that has to translate is, ‘How much do you hate losing?’ And, if we can’t pick up our effort and our energy, our physicality of our play. Finishing plays. We block a shot, and they get the rebound with way too much consistency. If I get the guys focused on that, then we have a chance to be okay."

Jaylin Williams became the winningest player in Auburn basketball history as a result of the win. Pearl elaborated on the accomplishment.

“That’s a pretty cool thing, man," Pearl said. "To be the all-time winningest player and he has a chance to add to that this year. That’s the first thing I did when I went into the locker room tonight is congratulate Jaylin for that. The fact that he came here originally and showed some promise, but he was behind some veteran frontline guys like Danjel Purifoy. He came in the year after the Final Four. But, we had an injury or two and then late in the year all of a sudden, boom. Jaylin Williams, that’s a promising, pretty bouncy, pretty athletic freshman."

Auburn will be back in action on Nov. 16 against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT and the broadcast can be found on ESPN2.
