Auburn basketball is set to play a vital stretch of the season

This stretch of the season will be important for the Auburn Tigers.

The Auburn basketball team is approaching a very important stretch of the season.

Bruce Pearl's squad did an excellent job of bouncing back from the 0-2 week with a 2-0 week, including a blowout win over Vanderbilt and a double-digit win over Ole Miss in Oxford. The matchup with Ole Miss was an interesting one, as the atmosphere was crazy. Ole Miss couldn't miss in the first half but came down to earth in the second half. Auburn, in the second half, scored 56 points in one of the best halves of basketball we have seen in a very long time to beat Ole Miss by 14 points after trailing by nine at the half.

The next two weeks will be critical for this Auburn team as they host Alabama on the 7th, head to Gainesville to take on Florida on the 10th, host South Carolina on the 14th, then host Kentucky on the 17th. All of these games will be important, with two of them being Quad 1 opportunities. If Auburn can go 3-1 in this stretch, they will have a real shot at winning the SEC Regular Season Title.

Auburn big man Johni Broome had this to say about how the Tigers dominated Ole Miss on the glass, "I give credit to the coaches," Broome said. "We got out-rebounded probably five out of our last seven games in conference. It's hard to win like that, so in practice, our guys focused on finding a body and crashing the glass." Rebounding will be very important when the Tigers host the Crimson Tide on Wednesday.

Auburn will have a lot of games coming up in Neville Arena, giving Bruce Pearl's team a chance to bank some wins down the stretch.
