Rival Coach Takes A Shot At Auburn Basketball's Arena

Auburn basketball's rival coach took a shot before playing the Tigers.

The Auburn Tigers take on Alabama for the second time this season on Wednesday.

Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers dropped the first contest when the game was played in Tuscaloosa by a score of 77-79.

Nate Oates discussed the atmosphere in Neveille Arena previewing the game. Tony Tsoukalas of Tide Illustrated tweeted the following from the Oates presser.

"Nate Oats said the rowdiness and noise of Neville Arena reminds him of a high school environment where you pack 2,000 people into a smaller gym."

Auburn's home-court advantage has grown in reputation and popularity over the course of the Pearl era of Auburn basketball. The Tigers have won 14 straight home games and are currently on a streak of 50-straight home sellout crowds. That streak will continue as the two teams square off Wednesday night.

The Tigers have lost three straight games against Alabama after the Tide swept the series last year and won in Tuscaloosa earlier this season. Auburn swept Alabama in the regular season during the 2022 campaign.

Wednesday's matchup is huge for both teams as far as positioning themselves to make a run for a conference championship. Alabama leads the SEC with an 8-1 conference record. Auburn and South Carolina hold the second and third spots with both teams having a 7-2 record in SEC play. The Tennessee Vols are commanding the fourth spot with a 6-2 mark in SEC contests this season.

Auburn and Alabama will battle in Neville Arena Wednesday night with the tip scheduled for 6 pm CT on the SEC Network.
