Auburn returns home to Neville Arena tomorrow night for a matchup with the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl previewed the matchup and discussed what he hopes to see from his team.

"Virginia Tech played in the championship game of the tournament in Orlando," Pearl said. "They've got some really good players and they are extremely well coached."

Pearl talked about Virginia Tech head coach Mike Young.

"Mike Young has been Coach of the Year in the ACC before," Pearl said. "I knew this summer when we got this matchup we were going to have our hands full from the standpoint of a style of play."

Pearl talked about the Hokies as a team.

"They are a tough, physical team," Pearl said. "They have a culture of toughness and physicality. I would say that this is probably going to be the most solid defensive team that we go up against.

They don't beat themselves, they don't turn the ball over."

The matchup between the Tigers and Hokies is part of the first annual ACC/SEC challenge. Pearl talked about what it means to be a part of it.

"I think it's great for college basketball," Pearl said. "I know it's really great for the selection committee to determine how many teams from the SEC go and how many teams from the ACC go."

Auburn had a lengthy break in between games. Pearl talked about how he believes the break will affect the team's performance.

"I think it came at a great time," Pearl said. "We haven't had Thanksgiving off since I can't remember when. We're always playing in a tournament."

I hope we're not rusty, we can't afford to be rusty because they (Virginia Tech) are so sharp."

Tipoff is set for 8:15 p.m. CT and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
