Auburn LB Eugene Asante says team isn't 'hanging their heads' like they did a season ago

In this story:
Junior linebacker Eugene Asante has had a breakout season for Auburn so far.
Asante was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week after Auburn's win over Cal and has been a stable piece of the front seven for the Tigers.
Asante has a catchphrase. "Let's Work!" is what Asante uses as a battle cry. It has caught on, and Auburn's DJ Ben Brudd even made a remix, which debuted in Jordan-Hare last week.
"It's a global phenomenon," Asante said jokingly. "We're doing it on the big stage."
Auburn is on a skid much like it was at this point last season. Asante said there is still hope this season.
"The biggest thing is people aren't hanging their heads," Asante said. "We understand that we have to play our best football in order to win games. And I think a little bit last year was more of guys hanging their heads and playing the blame game. I don't think this locker room is really doing that."
Auburn has been short-staffed at the linebacker position, but Asante said having Austin Keys back has been beneficial.
"It was a great thing seeing Austin back out there," Asante said. "It was a very big game for him coming from Ole Miss. It was a great thing to see him flying around and making plays."
Asante talked about how the defense is preparing for Mississippi State.
"I think the biggest thing is just reflecting on what we did last week," Asante said. "Understanding that we can grow upon our performances and there are always things to improve on."
Asante has made an impact on and off the field this season and will continue to be a difference-maker for the Tigers.
