Auburn lands JUCO defensive back Chancellor Anthony
The Tigers have added more depth to their defensive back room
Chancellor "Champ" "Pirate" Anthony has committed to the Tigers, per his social media.
Anthony is a six-foot-one, 176-pound defensive back who previously played at Tyler Junior College in Texas.
He is a utility guy who can really play any position in the defensive backfield that he is asked to. This is a good thing since safety is a position the coaching staff wanted to add some depth too, so if Anthony can play there, it makes this team deeper.
Anthony seems extremely excited to play the rest of his college football on the Plains, which is exactly the type of guy you want on your team. Depth in the SEC is crucial, and Anthony adds that with some high upside.
Anthony is a driven player who will undoubtedly crack the lineup at some point in his Auburn career.
Let's take a look at some of Anthony's JUCO highlights.
The Tigers had ten players depart from the program within the spring portal window, including three backup linebackers:
Quarterback TJ Finley
Wide receiver Tar'Varish Dawson
Wide receiver Landen King
Offensive lineman Colby Smith
Defensive lineman Jeffrey M'ba
Defensive lineman Tobechi Okoli
Defensive end Dylan Brooks
Linebacker Kameron Brown
Linebacker Desmond Tisdol
Linebacker Powell Gordon
Auburn has pulled in an impressive haul thus far during Hugh Freeze's first season on the Plains, currently sitting at No. 3 nationally in 247Sports' transfer portal class rankings.
