The Auburn Tigers are on a skid.

It has been over a month since the Tigers last won a football game and they find themselves 0-4 in SEC play.

Auburn will host the Mississippi State Bulldogs this week and the Tigers find themselves favored for the first time since the Samford game.

Quarterback Payton Thorne talked about what a win would do for this team from a confidence perspective.

"It'd be big, we need a win," Thorne said. "It's been four weeks since we were able to sing the fight song together. We've had chances to win, that's the frustrating part.

So just getting back on track and executing our stuff, going out there and playing well on Saturday and walking away with a win would be good to get back on track and set us up for success the rest of the season."

Wide receiver Caleb Burton has finally seen some action. Thorne talked about what he brings to the table for the offense.

"When he got here you could tell he's a route runner," Thorne said. "He's not just a guy who can run fast or make flashy catches. He's a technician and he works hard at it."

The quarterback rotation has been a big topic of conversation for Auburn this season, but Thorne said it has not affected his relationship with Robby Ashford.

"When he's (Ashford) is out there, I'm not hoping anybody does anything bad," Thorne said. "I assume he feels the same way. We're trying to win... we're both pulling for each other. We're hoping each other does good things because that is going to help us win games. There's no bad blood or anything like that."

This game will be an important one in determining what kind of a season Auburn end up having.
