Landen King and Colby Smith have entered the transfer portal

In this story:
April 30th marks the final day players (aside from grad transfers) can enter the transfer portal.
So on the 30th wide receiver, Landen King and offensive tackle Colby Smith entered the portal.
Losing King hurts because he has all the upside in the world. He is a six-foot-five tight end/wideout who would have fit in well with a Hugh Freeze offense.
King entered the portal before Freeze was hired but returned since Coach Freeze is notorious for loving big pass catchers. Auburn fans hoped King would fit this role, but it didn't pan out.
When it comes to Smith, he is a massive tackle, but we never really heard his name much in his few seasons on the Plains. You hate losing a six-foot-eight 340-pound tackle, but the offensive line is in a really good spot heading into the 2023 season.
We have been saying for months now that the staff will have to make room for the incoming freshman and transfer portal additions Auburn makes.
These two leaving isn't ideal, but it makes room for Coach Freeze to go get his guys.
There were a lot of talented players visiting the Plains last weekend, and hopefully, some good news is on its way with some of those players.
I expect Auburn to add a handful of players from the portal within the next few weeks.
Best of luck to King and Smith as they start looking for a new school to call home.
I am officially in the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility remaining! Thank you Auburn for everything!
