FSU IOL Zane Herring enters the transfer portal

This is the kind of depth Auburn mentioned wanting after Spring practices.

Zane Herring, a six-foot-five 302-pound lineman out of Madison, Florida has entered the transfer portal. Herring is a former three-star recruit, that was listed and is a red-shirt junior coming out of FSU.

Herring spent his freshman year on the injury list, worked his way into the lineup for the Seminoles in 2021, making his collegiate debut, then appeared in all 13 games last season on the field goal unit and made several appearances, all at either guard or center, in a backup capacity. Herring excels in rush-heavy sets but has a little ways to go in pass protection.

After Spring practices were over, Auburn coach Hugh Freeze noted the need for more interior line depth. There has not been a ton of IOL entries into the portal so far in this portal. Auburn Daily will keep you posted if there is any interest between Herring and Auburn.

The Tigers have now had five players depart from the program within the last couple of weeks, including three backup linebackers:

Wide Receiver Tar'Varish Dawson

Defensive lineman Jeffrey M'ba

Linebacker Kameron Brown

Linebacker Desmond Tisdol

Linebacker Powell Gordon

Auburn has pulled in an impressive haul thus far during Hugh Freeze's first season on the Plains, currently sitting at No. 3 nationally in 247Sports' transfer portal class rankings.
