Another outstanding JACK prospect enters the transfer portal and is now available to Auburn.
Keahnist Thompson, a former 3-star six-foot-three 255-pound EDGE out of Lakeland, Florida, has entered the portal. As we at Auburn Daily prognosticated prior to the portal, there is an influx of defensive ends/EDGE players becoming available. Thompson is easily now one of the top five available at this position.
Thompson, who played his high school ball at the powerhouse program of Lakeland High School, was rated 43 on MaxPreps preseason list of top players in the class of 2022. He accounted for 65 tackles, 6 sacks, and two fumble recoveries as a senior.
Thompson chose UCF to stay close to his family. He held offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and USC. He never got the chance at playing time at UCF under former Auburn coach Gus Malzahn, but will more than likely be a force at a Power 5 program within a season or two. Auburn has Keldric Faulk as a young building block at the JACK position currently. It would not hurt to have two young stud stars to build the future on. Otherwise, Auburn could use depth at the defensive end position with M’Ba leaving for the portal. Thompson could certainly play that role well. It will be interesting to see if Malzahn guides this young man a bit toward his good friend, Auburn coach Hugh Freeze.

Auburn has pulled in an impressive haul thus far during Hugh Freeze's first season on the Plains, currently sitting at No. 3 nationally in 247Sports' transfer portal class rankings.
