Three things to know about Gerquan Scott

In this story:
Auburn is expected to add some offensive linemen in the transfer portal class.
There's a chance that one of them will be Southern Miss Gerquan Scott. He's an experienced interior offensive lineman who will make a push to start at either school that he chooses to play for in 2024.
When looking at Scott, outside of his 6-foot-4, 330-pound frame, there's a lot to like about what he could bring to Auburn in 2024. Let's point out three things to know about the Mobile, Alabama native.
Can play all three spots on the interior offensive line
Scott found a home at left guard while at Southern Miss. He started things out by getting the majority of his snaps in 2020 at right guard. Since then, he's been seen almost exclusively at left guard. Scott took over at center for a few games at Southern Miss a season ago.
While center seems like it is locked down by Connor Lew, Scott offers the depth if an injury were to happen while also being a startable guard in the SEC.
He's played a ton of football
Scott has been playing college football since 2019 and has a ton of snaps under his belt.
2019: Did not play
2020: Played 393 total snaps
2021: Played 766 total snaps
2022: Played 747 total snaps
2023: Played 814 total snaps
Career: 2,720 total snaps
Could slot in where Auburn lost the most on the OL
Auburn's biggest loss in the offensive line room was Gunner Britton. With Britton moving on due to graduation and looking ahead to the NFL, his production and value can't be understated. Auburn brings back starters at every other spot assuming Dillon Wade returns. Scott could come in and fill that hole and cover the Tigers as a one-year rental as Hugh Freeze continues to build depth on this roster.
