Quarterback Ben Bryant opts to enter the portal

Could the former Cincinnati QB be on Auburn’s radar?

Ben Bryant, a six-foot-three 220-pound senior quarterback out of La Grange, Illinois, has declared for the portal, again. Bryant was the starting quarterback for the Bearcats last year.

In 2021 and 2022 Bryant completed 492 passes for 5,853 yards with 35 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He maintained a completion percentage of around 65%. No rushing numbers to speak of other than negative sack yardage. He was literally the middle of the pack as far as the 2022 season quarterbacks’ performance chart. Landing at around 50th in the country in every major passing statistical category.

Bryant would give Auburn the experience it would want at the quarterback position but is not a good fit for the RPO offense that is currently being installed here. He is more of a fit for a pro-style system.

The main factor of this portal entry to Auburn is that it might take one of their target quarterbacks off the board. As this move might mean Cincy will start Evan Prater at quarterback, keeping him out of the portal. He would be the perfect fit for Auburn. I believe this news actually takes away someone Auburn wanted. We at Auburn Daily will keep you posted with any updates.

The Tigers have now had five players depart from the program within the last couple of weeks, including three backup linebackers:

Wide Receiver Tar'Varish Dawson

Defensive lineman Jeffrey M'ba

Linebacker Kameron Brown

Linebacker Desmond Tisdol

Linebacker Powell Gordon

Auburn has pulled in an impressive haul thus far during Hugh Freeze's first season on the Plains, currently sitting at No. 3 nationally in 247Sports' transfer portal class rankings.
