They said it
Jay Fair was asked about Shane Hooks earlier this week.
“I think he has picked up the offense rather quick too. His ability to make plays and stretch the defense down the field, I feel like will give a lot of teams something to game plan around him. It also opens up some of the other receivers in the receiver room. I feel like his leadership has also come on pretty strong too.”
We wrote it
Auburn landed the commitment from 3-star defensive lineman Dimitry Nicolas on Friday. Here's some of what we wrote about the newest Auburn commitment.
Nicolas is just a three-star recruit but is expected to make another leap forward following a breakout junior season. Nicolas totaled 15 tackles for loss and eight sacks last season when he attended Monsignor Pace in Miami. Following his breakout, he transferred to Norland, another 2M school in the Miami area. Norland and Nicolas will play their first game a week from today, on September 1st.
Nicolas recruitment started off hot, receiving offers from Texas A&M, Miami, and Georgia as just a Sophomore, but following his Sophomore campaign, it slowed down, picking up again following that impressive Junior season mentioned earlier. Auburn offered in this second wave, and when Jeremy Garrett and the new staff came in, they kept communication open with Dimitry. Auburn got Nicolas on campus for Big Cat Weekend, and from that point on, his recruitment seemed to be all Auburn; his commitment affirmed that idea.
