It is never too early to think of the future for Alex Golesh and the Auburn Tigers, who are looking to establish recruiting dominance for years to come. One such name on the Tigers’ radar is Tatum White, a 2029 defensive lineman from Heard County in Georgia.

White stands at 6-foot-5, 280 pounds as a freshman in high school, and he is only looking to grow and develop more as the offers begin to roll in from top programs. Per Prep Redzone Georgia, White is the best defensive lineman in the 2029 class as well as the fifth-best player in the state of Georgia, so he could be a quality pickup for the future of the Tigers.

Auburn Tigers on SI caught up with White after his visit to chat all things Auburn, including his visit to the Plains and his new offer from the Tigers.

“The energy [of practice] was up there, man,” White said. “I really like how attentive and how much the players really pay attention to their coaches. The players in there got a really good bond and I think it’s important for players and coaches to have that bond.”

White’s offer was far from a usual circumstance, as the young freshman was approached by Alex Golesh himself at a practice on Tuesday.

“He came up to me because it was like the middle of the practice,” White recalled. “And their practice goes on a pretty long time. He told me that ‘We like your stuff. I think you’re a great player.’ And then he said, ‘You got an offer from Auburn.’ I was pretty happy.”

Golesh was not the only coach who took the time to talk to the young White, as he also recalls a chat with Coach King-Williams, who is the current defensive line coach.

“I got to talk with him before practice started,” White said. “It was real, the conversation was super easy. Like, it just kept flowing, so I really liked that. Like when I was talking to him, it felt like I already knew him.”

White told me that he “most definitely” plans on a return visit to the Plains, though he does not have an official date lined up. He also said that Auburn will likely remain high on his board throughout his recruitment, regardless of offers that come in down the road.

“I just got to keep grinding,” he said. “It’s nowhere but up from here. I feel like I already dominate… so I just got to keep that mentality. I know I got a target on my back now that I got some offers, so just use that to keep building my confidence and keep working every day.”
