The offensive line for the Auburn Tigers this year was put together in a hurry, as new head coach Alex Golesh had very little time to assemble his roster before the beginning of spring practice. However, the Tigers have begun to make an impression on top-level recruits for future seasons, and Reis Russell may be the next big name for the Tiger trenches.

Russell is a 6-foot-4, 290-pound 2027 offensive lineman who hails from Littleton, Col., where he plays for Valor Christian. A three-star prospect, Russell is rated as the 51st-best offensive lineman in the 2027 class as well as the fourth-best player in Colorado.

Russell has already garnered offers from top programs like Georgia, Miami and Washington, and Auburn Tigers on SI caught up with Russell after he received an Auburn offer on Thursday.

“Auburn seems like a great place,” he said. “The atmosphere on gameday is unreal. Coach Thornton and Coach Parker Ball were great to talk to and they offered me then. I think they bring a lot to the O-line room and their combined knowledge is awesome.”

This connection with the coaches is a crucial aspect of a potential suitor for Russell, who is currently focusing on strengthening his relationships with staff before making a final decision.

“A big thing for me in this process is my relationship with the staff,” he said. “I think it’s important. I’ve built a relationship with [Auburn’s] staff that I’m talking to and [I] like the way they teach.”

Since Russell is so highly sought-after, he has worked to adopt a mentality of hard work, no matter what success or challenge comes his way.

“Every offer means a lot to me and fuels me to work even harder,” he said. “Especially from a great program like Auburn… I’m fired up about Auburn and can’t wait to learn more… I hope to make [a visit] in the future.”

Russell said that he looks up to legendary Philadelphia offensive lineman Jason Kelce, who had a stellar career with the Eagles before retiring in 2024, and tries to play the game with a similar tenacity.

“He was a dawg and played hard,” Russell said. “I would hope that the tape proves this, but [I would want coaches to know] my physical aggression on the field. I always tried to play this position like it should be played–nasty!”

Russell still has another full season of high school football before it will be time to make a final decision, but he is able to commit to a program as soon as he likes. He would certainly be a great pickup for the Tigers, though, who are still working to figure out what the future of the offensive line will look like.
