Auburn had reached out to a forward in the transfer portal

Auburn is looking to add a talented forward in the transfer portal.

The Auburn basketball team is looking to add players via the transfer portal, and they got their first one just a few days ago. Former Furman guard JP Pegues chose the Auburn Tigers, and he will more than likely be the Tigers starting point guard next season.

Coach Pearl is still looking to add some depth across the roster, and he has reached out to former Clemson forward RJ Godfrey. Since being in the portal, Godfrey has heard from Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Butler, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Xavier, App State, Loyola Chicago, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M.

WYFF News in Greenville, South Carolina, had this to say about Godfrey's NCAA Tournament performance, "While he was a mainstay in the Tigers rotation all season, Godfrey elevated his game in the NCAA Tournament, scoring 8.3 points per game during Clemson's run to the Elite 8. After shooting just 55% from the free throw line during the season, he was a perfect 8-of-8 during the tournament, including four made free throws in the final 30 seconds against Baylor, as the Tigers held off the No. 3 seed in the second round."

On the season, Godfrey averaged 6.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game for an excellent Clemson team.

Godfrey would likely not be a starter for the Auburn Tigers if he landed on the Plains, but he would be a solid depth piece.

Coach Pearl will focus on hitting the transfer to add a few guards to make up for the three they lost.
