Bears LB Bryson Jackson: West Virginia Game 'An Opportunity to Get Better As A Program'

Bryson Jackson discussed what the game against the Mountaineers represents for the Bears.

The Baylor Bears entered the season as the favorites to win the Big 12, and there was plenty of reason to pick them to do so. Despite an early season stumble against the BYU Cougars, the Bears were still primed to go on a run in Big 12 play.

Now, though, that path is a bit trickier following their 36-25 loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Week 5. Coming off of their bye week they have an opportunity to rebound against the West Virginia Mountaineers, albeit on a short week as they play on Thursday night and not Saturday.

Despite the short week, Bears outside linebacker Bryson Jackson is excited for the matchup with the Mountaineers and the opportunity that it presents them.

"It's an opportunity to get better as a program and a unit," Jackson said. "We want to use this week and these past couple weeks as a stepping stone for us to take."

"We definitely needed that from the start. I think us refining ourselves, getting back to who we really are is the main focus for this game coming up."

Of course, the Bears can still win the Big 12 as one loss in conference play does not sink their hopes of doing so. If they want to do so, though, they must turn it around from their performance against the Cowboys, with their game against the Mountaineers a perfect opportunity to do so.
