Baylor's Issac Power Earns Spot on Ray Guy Award Watch List

Senior punter named to preseason watch list as week one looms

Add Issac Power to the growing list of Baylor Bears football players on preseason awards watch lists.

Baylor's Power, a 6-1, 201-pound punter for the Bears, garnered a spot on the Ray Guy Award preseason watch list for the second year in a row.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Augusta Sports Council.

The fifth-year senior from Castle Rock, Colorado, currently ranks eighth in program history in punts (175), ninth in punting yards (7,928) and ninth in yards per punt (41.7), according to BaylorBears.com.

Power also sits at seventh in single-season punting average (45.0 in 2021) and is tied for fifth in punts of 50+ yards in a single season for Baylor (20).

He has also been named to the 2022 Preseason All-Big 12 Third Team by Phil Steele and the 2022 Preseason All-Big 12 Fourth Team by Athlon.

In addition, he is a six-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient and is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection.

Last season, Power averaged 45.0 yards per punt with 20 punts over 50 yards. Overall, he has appeared in 38 career games for the Bears.

Power punted a career-high 11 times in the 2020 season finale against Oklahoma State and made his college debut against Vanderbilt in the 2018 Texas Bowl, punting once for 47 yards.

The Ray Guy Award is a yearly honor given to college football's most outstanding punter and is named after All-American Ray Guy, a punter for Southern Mississippi in college and the Oakland Raiders in the NFL.
