Pair of Bears Named to Reese's Senior Bowl Watchlist

OL Connor Galvin and TE Ben Sims get recognition from prestigious all-star game

Baylor Bears left tackle Connor Galvin and tight end Ben Sims were named to the Reese's Senior Bowl Watchlist Wednesday.

The Senior Bowl is one of the premier showcases for college football stars headed for the NFL draft, giving them one more chance to show their skills in a competitive game in front of a crowd of professional coaches and scouts.

Galvin comes into his final season with the Bears with all kinds of hype, already being named a preseason All-American and seeing his name pop up on several watchlists already this summer.

Coming off a stellar 2021 where he was first-team All-Big 12 and the conference's offensive lineman of the year, Galvin has serious potential to hear his name called in the first round of next April's NFL draft if he continues his ascent.

While Galvin reeled in the awards, Sims was one of the unsung heroes of the Bear offense a season ago. Sims made a career-high 31 catches and scored six touchdowns, bringing his career total to nine, the most touchdowns ever by a Bears tight end.

Even with such an impactful 2021 season, Sims could play an even bigger role for the Bears in 2022. With quarterback Blake Shapen starting his first full season in college football and having seen all of his starting wide receivers leave school, Sims will need to be a safety blanket.

The Bears had four players in last year's Senior Bowl, three of whom were drafted and all of whom are on NFL rosters.
