Baylor Football Alum Tyler Lindstrom Dead at 39

Former Baylor University football star Tyler Lindstrom, 39, was found dead in his home in Austin, Texas on Tuesday.

Baylor football made the official announcement on social media on Friday.

Many fans and former teammates chimed in on Twitter to voice their compassion for Lindstrom and memories of their fallen friend.

"This one really hurts," Scott Lance Mauldin Tweeted. "Tyler was one of my favorite guys I had the chance to work with on the football team. Had so many great memories with him quoting movies and laughing."

His cause of death remains unknown at this time, according to his brother, Nebraska senator Brett Lindstrom.

Lindstrom began his college career at Baylor as a walk-on to the football team, earning a scholarship before his junior year with the Bears in 2004. He spent most of his positional time on the gridiron as a linebacker, safety and member of the special teams unit.

He played in a total of 23 games during his four years at Baylor, starting four contests, and garnered 32 total tackles.

A standout player at Millard West High School (Nebraska), Lindstrom was a major factor in the Wildcats' 11-1 record his senior year as the team's starting outside linebacker -- as he racked up 87 tackles, three pass deflections, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception (his lone interception that season was also returned for a touchdown).
