Texas Longhorns Offensive Players to Watch vs. Baylor Bears in Week 12

Texas' explosive playmakers are capable of gashing most defenses in the Big 12. Can coach Dave Aranda and the Bears limit them for a second-straight season?

The Baylor Bears will make the trip down south to Austin visit the Texas Longhorns on Friday, Nov. 25 to close out Big 12 play and the 2022 regular season.

Texas leads the all-time series 79-28-4 dating back to 1901. But Baylor got the best of Texas last season in Waco, winning 31-24 in what was a dominant performance for coach Dave Aranda's rushing attack.

Baylor running back Abram Smith had 21 carries for 145 yards and a touchdown while Trestan Ebner has 12 carries for 66 yards.

Baylor enters this season ranked No. 10 while the Longhorns are unranked the begin the year for the first time since 2016. For the Bears, they'll see if they can live up to expectations by the time this end-of-season matchup comes around. For Texas, it will be a test to potentially prove doubters wrong.

Here's the Texas offensive players that the Bears will need to keep tabs on:

RB Bijan Robinson

Robinson was on Heisman watch last season and could’ve been in contention for being a finalist had he not dislocated his elbow in the third-to-last game of the season and if Texas’ overall record had been better.

Nonetheless, he remains one of the most talented playmakers with the ball in his hands in the country. But his worst rushing total of last season came in the loss to Baylor. Robinson had 17 carries for 43 yards which averaged out to 2.5 yards per rush. He still managed to find the end zone, but Aranda's defense was clearly game-planning for him.

It could be a near impossible task to replicate this two years in a row, as Robinson will be looking for a major bounce-back.

WR Xavier Worthy

Worthy shined as one of college football's best receivers as a true freshman. He had 62 catches for 981 yards and 12 touchdown receptions, with the 12 scores being good for first among freshmen receivers and fifth overall. The 62 catches also led all freshmen and earned him Freshman All-American honors.

And though the Baylor front seven was able to contain Robinson, Worthy had his way with the Bears' secondary. He had four catches for 115 yards and a touchdown, as the yardage was his third-highest receiving total last season.

Worthy did this against a secondary that boasted elite NFL talent like Jalen Pitre, JT Woods, and Kalon Barnes. Without these guys in the secondary this time around, Worthy could be in for another big game.

QB Quinn Ewers

Ewers has yet to complete a collegiate pass, but it's hard not to list him as a player to watch, as is the case for the quarterback in almost any matchup.

The Ohio State transfer was the most coveted quarterback in the class of 2021 for a reason, as his deep-ball accuracy, mobility, and overall naturally as a passer can help create something out of nothing against any defense.

Of course, it remains to be seen if this holds true next season, but the Bears will get the benefit of having a full season of tape to watch of Ewers before the regular-season finale.
