The Boston College baseball program received a commitment from Santa Barbara Community College (JUCO) shortstop Will Matuszak, Oliveira Baseball Consulting announced Wednesday afternoon on X.

Matuszak also posted the news on Instagram, in which he officially stated his verbal commitment to Birdball.

A Los Angeles, Calif., native and product of Windward High School, Matuszak is slashing .374/.508/.687 through 26 games this season. Batting fourth for the Vaquero, he leads the lineup in home runs (7) and extra-base hits (17), is tied for first in doubles (10), is second in walks (23), and third in RBIs (23).

Last year, as a freshman, the 6-foot, 170-pound righty batted .339 with a .416 on-base percentage and a .494 slugging percentage.

He additionally racked up four homers, 18 walks, 13 doubles, 18 extra-base hits, and seven hit-by-pitches throughout 41 games played, propelling Santa Barbara CC to a 26-15 overall record and a Southern California Regional Playoffs first-round berth.

Matuszak is now set to join a squad that currently ranks No. 22 in the country, per D1Baseball, and boasts a 21-9 overall record with an 8-4 conference record — good for fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

This weekend, the Eagles will play a three-game road series at No. 6 North Carolina.

Boston College Quote of the Day:

[On playing with Ryan Sidney] "We take a lot of pressure off of each other. A lot of backcourts have two guards that play similarly but it is not like that with Ryan and me. We play differently so we complement each other and do not get in each other's way."
Troy Bell
