20% of Brackets Have BYU Basketball as a 4-Seed in the NCAA Tournament

A good week at the Big 12 tournament could propel BYU to a 4-seed in the NCAA tournament

It's March and BYU is a lock to go to the NCAA Tournament regardless of what happens this week during the Big 12 tournament. On Bracket Matrix, a site that compiles the most accurate bracket projections on the internet, BYU is included in 100% of the bracket projections.

Dallin Hall vs Kansas
  • 20% of brackets (23 of 114) have BYU as a 4-seed
  • 79% of brackets (90 of 114) have BYU as a 5-seed
  • 1% of brackets (1 of 114) have BYU as a 6-seed

BYU's average seed is 4.81, that's the highest average of the 5-seeds. Auburn, Alabama, Illinois, and Kentucky are the four teams on the 4-seed line. According to the crowd of bracketologists, Auburn has the lowest average of the 4-seeds.

A good week at the Big 12 tournament could propel BYU to a 4-seed in the NCAA tournament. That would likely require 2-3 wins in the Big 12 tournament.

BYU will play the winner of UCF-Oklahoma State on Tuesday. UCF would be a Quad Two game and an opportunity for BYU to bolster its NCAA Tournament resume. Oklahoma State would be a Quad Three game - there's a little more downside than upside to a game against Oklahoma State.

If BYU wins its first game in the conference tournament, it would advance to play Texas Tech in the quarterfinals. That would be a Quad One opportunity for BYU.

BYU will know its first opponent by early afternoon on Tuesday. The Knights and the Cowboys tipoff at 10:30 AM Mountain Time in the Big 12 tournament.
