On Saturday night, no. 21 BYU basketball held on to beat Kansas State at home. Like usual, the Marriott Center crowd was loud and supportive throughout the game. One of the loudest moments of the game, however, came during a timeout.

With five minutes left, a young boy named Beckham Bramwell was put on the jumbotron. Beckham pulled out a famous BYU Cougar Tail donut, a 15-inch maple bar that BYU sells at sporting events. In front of over 17,000 fans, he started speed eating the Cougar Tail like a veteran competitive eater.

Bramwell, an 11 year-old who is a lifelong BYU fan, got a nice applause when he started eating the donut. Then he kept eating, and eating, and the cheers from the crowd got louder and louder. To the surprise of everyone in the crowd, he just kept eating.

Beckham ate the donut like Joey Chestnut eats hot dogs on the Fourth of July. The only thing he was missing was a glass of water to help it all go down. And just like Chestnut and the other premier competitive eaters, the boy had to fight to keep it down.

After a long, hard-fought battle, the Cougar Tail prevailed and the young boy fell just shy of eating the entire donut. That didn't keep the crowd from giving him one last round of applause.

After the game, Beckham was greeted in the hallway like a celebrity.

The donut-eating champion was not the only kid to get a round of applause from the BYU crowd. Lucy, who is only seven years old, brought the crowd to its feet before the game with a classic performance of the national anthem.
