BYU Quarterback Kedon Slovis Throws a Pair of Touchdowns in Scrimmage Highlights

BYU veteran quarterback Kedon Slovis impressed during the first scrimmage of Fall camp

On Saturday, Kalani Sitake and the BYU football program conducted a scrimmage of approximately 105 total plays. After the scrimmage, BYU veteran linebacker Ben Bywater was asked whether the offense or the defense won the day. "I would give it to the offense," Bywater said.

BYU released a short highlight video from the scrimmage. In those highlights, BYU quarterback Kedon Slovis threw two touchdowns and completed another nice pass to tight end Isaac Rex. BYU defensive coordinator Jay Hill was very complementary of Slovis following the scrimmage, and added that he's "glad to have this offense on [his] side."

Slovis' first touchdown pass went to freshman wide receiver Dom Henry (1:02). Henry beat Eddie Heckard on the inside and Slovis hit him in stride for the score.

The second touchdown went to freshman wide receiver Parker Kingston (1:31). Slovis rolled to his right and found Kingston sitting in the soft spot of the defense. Slovis fit the ball behind Kingston where only he could catch it. Kingston has been mentioned multiple times as a standout during camp. He is cementing his place in what is looking like a wide receiver rotation of six (Epps, Roberts, Hill, Lassiter, Marion, Kingston). He is also the fastest player on the roster.

Slovis also found Isaac Rex in a tight window for a nice gain (0:56). Slovis fit the pass over Rex's shoulder before the safety could provide coverage over the top. This throw was arguably Slovis' most impressive on the highlight reel.

BYU's offensive success in 2023 will ride largely on the shoulders of Kedon Slovis. If Aaron Roderick can help Slovis return to the early USC version of himself, the Cougars will be very good on offense.

BYU kicks off the season against Sam Houston State in just three weeks. They will scrimmage one more time next Saturday.
