Smith spent four years in the program at Colorado where he ran for a career 653 yards while averaging 4.1 yards per carry. In 2022, Smith had the most carries of any Colorado running back, carrying the ball 83 times for 4.7 yards per carry. His best game came against Arizona State where he ran for 111 yards on 24 carries. He also caught 11 passes including this 41-yard reception against Arizona:

Smith is the second running back that BYU has added from the transfer portal this offseason. Last December, UNLV transfer Aidan Robbins committed to BYU after running for over 1,000 yards last season. Smith will provide depth and immediately compete for reps in the rotation in BYU's inaugural Big 12 season.

Smith isn't the only former Buffalo that BYU is recruiting in the transfer portal. BYU hosted former Colorado wide receiver Chase Sowell for an official visit. The Cougars have also extended a scholarship offer to former Colorado wide receiver Montana Lemonious-Craig. The Buffaloes have lost most of their scholarship players to the transfer portal since the hiring of Deion Sanders as head coach.
UPDATE: Chase Sowell just committed to ECU.
Stay tuned for more transfer portal updates over the next several weeks.
