First Look at BYU's New Field Design for Cincinnati Game

A few months ago, the BYU football program unveiled a new field design for the 2023 season. BYU announced, however, that it would wait to use the new design until the first conference home game against Cincinnati. The wait is over and the first conference home game is here. On Thursday, the BYU grounds crew painted the new field design for the first time. BYU fan Just Allison posted a video of the completed paint job on X.

Beginning with this game against Cincinnati, the end zones and logo will be filled with paint. The end zones will be filled with royal blue paint - the midfield logo will be filled with white paint surrounding the royal blue stretch "Y". Prior to this season, BYU historically has left both the midfield logo and the end zones green with the exception of a few games.
Earlier this year, BYU confirmed that the painted end zones will be permanent. BYU also confirmed that it will continue to play on a natural grass field at Lavell Edwards Stadium.
The new field will be on display in front of a sellout crowd. You can expect the sold out Lavell Edwards Stadium to be loud on Friday night. It's a celebration for the BYU fanbase who will get to see their team play a P5 conference game for the first. On Wednesday, BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe issued a challenge to BYU fans to make it the loudest game ever.
@byuROC THE day is nearing to experience the most exciting and LOUDEST game day EVER at BYU. The 1️⃣st Big XII FB game in BYU history. LaVell’s House MUST shake, rock and roar like no other game - EVER. Many Cougs have gone before to bring us here. Friday YOU bring the thunder!💙
