How the Transfers Out of the BYU Football Program Fared in 2023
Following the 2022 season, BYU saw a record 20 players transfers out of the program. Today, we'll check in on those players and how they fared in 2023.
Keenan Pili - Tennessee
Linebacker Keenan Pili transferred to Tennessee. Unfortunately for Pili, he only played in one game before suffering a season-ending injury.
Gabe Jeudy-Lally - Tennessee
Like Keenan Pili, Gabe Jeudy-Lally also transferred to Tenneessee. Jeudy-Lally played in every game in 2023 and he started the last 10 games at cornerback. He had 25 tackles, 3 pass break-ups, and one interception.
Clark Barrington - Baylor
Clark Barrington started every game for Baylor this season. Barrington was part of a Baylor offense that struggled in 2023 and ultimately led to the firing of Jeff Grimes.
Campbell Barrington - Baylor
Campbell Barrington played at Baylor with his older brother Clark. He started every game for the Bears along the offensive line.
Tate Romney - Arizona State
Tate Romney started 11 out of 12 games for Arizona State and he played in all 12 games. Romney tallied 52 total tackles and one sack in 2023. Per PFF, Romney had the lowest grade of any player on the ASU defense with more than 15 total snaps.
Dallin Holker - Colorado State
Dallin Holker had a great season for Colorado State. He had a career best 767 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns, including a game-winning Hail Mary catch. He was named an All-American by multiple outlets after the 2023 season. Holker had arguably the best season of any former BYU player.
Jacob Conover - Arizona State
Jacob Conover came into the season as the fourth-string quarterback at ASU. Conover eventually saw the field when injuries plagued the ASU quarterbacks. To say Conover struggled in limited reps would be an understatement. In three games played, he completed only 29% of his passes for 130 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Logan Fano - Utah
Logan Fano was getting reps along Utah's defensive line before he suffered yet another season-ending knee injury. He finished the season with 14 total tackles and 3.5 sacks.
George Udo - Cincinnati
George Udo didn't play a single defensive snap for Cincinnati in 2023.
Logan Pili - Utah State
Logan Pili played a limited role for Utah State's defense until the back half of the season. Pili made his first start of the season in the Idaho Potato Bowl. He had a failing season grade (44.5) per PFF.
Vae Soifua - Weber State
Vae Soifua never cracked the rotation at Weber State. He appeared in 16 total snaps in garbage time.
