The Majority of BYU's Signing Class Will Play Right Away

On Wednesday morning, BYU signed 25 players to its 2024 recruiting class. The 2024 class is unique, however, because the majority of the signees will play right away. Typically, the opposite is true and most of BYU's signees leave for two years to serve missions.

That's good news for BYU. The Cougars addressed a lot of roster needs in the 2024 class and that talent will be available to contribute right away. Mission plans are personal and always subject to change. But as of this writing, here are the players that we expect to be on the 2024 roster.

Play Right Away

  • Ikinasio Tupou - Offensive line
  • Noah Lugo - Quarterback
  • Tei Nacua - Wide receiver
  • Ryner Swanson - Tight end
  • Tre Alexander - Cornerback
  • Jonathan Kabeya - Cornerback
  • Ephraim Asiata - Linebacker/defensive end
  • Viliami Po'uha - Defensive end
  • Sani Tuala - Defensive end
  • Devoux Tuataga - Defensive end
  • Dallin Johnson - Defensive tackle
  • Danny Saili - Defensive tackle
  • Luke To'omalatai - Defensive tackle
  • Jack Kelly - Linebacker
  • Matthias Leach - Safety
  • Thomas Prassas - Safety

Reinforcements are on the way for the BYU defensive line. A lot of these players could factor into the rotation along the defensive line next season, namely Danny Saili, Sani Tuala, and Luke To'omalatai. Even a few true freshman like Devoux Tuataga and Dallin Johnson could get some run in 2024.

The BYU defensive backfield will also get an infusion of talent. Cornerbacks Tre Alexander and Jonathan Kabeya are some of the top cornerback prospects in recent memory.

Depth at safety was a problem throughout the 2023 season, so BYU added Thomas Prassas and Matthias Leach to compete in that room.

Keep an eye on tight end Ryner Swanson. The four-star prospect was recruited by most of the big names around the country. He could find the field as a true freshman.

Mission First

  • Brody Laga - Kicker
  • Enoch Watson - Quarterback
  • Jett Nelson - Wide receiver/tight end
  • Carson Su'esu'e - Athlete
  • Siosefa Brown - Defensive end
  • Adney Reid - Defensive end
  • Blake Lowe - Linebacker
