Three BYU Opponents Ranked in the Preseason AP Top 25

The Cougars will face three teams ranked in the preseason top 25

The college football season is just weeks away. On Monday, the Associated Press released the preseason top 25. Three of BYU's 2023 opponents were ranked in the top 25 and two more were just outside the top 25.

The Texas Longhorns came in at no. 11 in the country, the highest preseason ranking in the Big 12. BYU travels to Austin in late October to take on the Longhorns. If Texas lives up to its preseason expectations, BYU will likely be taking on a top 10 team in October.

Reigning Big 12 champion Kansas State was ranked no. 16 in the preseason poll. BYU does not face Kansas State in the regular season this year.

Reigning national runner-up TCU came in at no. 17 in the AP preseason poll. BYU takes on TCU in October in Fort Worth. TCU and BYU will be renewing an old Mountain West rivalry in that game.

The Oklahoma Sooners were ranked no. 20 in the AP poll. The Sooners travel to Provo in November to take on BYU.

Texas Tech, who travels to Provo in October, was just outside the top 25 in the receiving votes category. The Red Raiders received the most votes of any school outside the top 25, meaning they would have ranked 26th if the rankings extended beyond 25.

BYU's first road game of the year takes place in Arkansas. The Razorbacks received top 25 votes as well, ranking 30th in the poll. By the time BYU and Arkansas face off in week three, the Razorbacks could be a top 25 team.

BYU kicks off the 2023 season against Sam Houston State on September 2.
