Two Members of BYU Defense to Enter The Transfer Portal

On Friday, two members of the BYU defense announced their plans to enter the transfer portal. Senior safety/nickel George Udo and freshman linebacker Logan Pili will enter the transfer portal when the transfer window opens on April 15th.
Udo joined the program in 2019 - he has been a rotational player in his four years at BYU. Last season, Udo appeared in 10 games, averaging 13.5 snaps per game in those 10 games. He tallied 13 tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss last season. He finished his BYU career with 44 total tackles including 6 tackles for loss.
Freshman Logan Pili appeared in the last three games of the season for BYU against Utah Tech, Stanford, and SMU. In those three games, Pili racked up seven total tackles. Logan is the younger brother of former BYU linebacker Keenan Pili. Keenan entered the transfer portal after the 2022 season and transferred to Tennessee.
On Saturday April 15th, the second transfer window opens for college football players. This is the last transfer window before the 2023 season and it runs through April 30th. The first transfer window was a busy one for the BYU football program. BYU saw 13 players leave the program and enter the transfer portal while 12 transfers committed to BYU. With Udo, Pili, and Dean Jones announcing their plans to enter the portal this month, the total number of players entering the portal will grow to 16.
Udo, Pili, and Jones played sparingly in 2022 and they were not projected to start in 2023. BYU will have three more scholarships for next season and the departing players will have the option to transfer to schools where they can take on greater roles.
