BYU QB Target Grady Adamson Recaps BYU visit

Grady Adamson is a three-star quarterback from Oklahoma

Recruiting at a high level is the key to BYU's future success in the Big 12. Last weekend, while BYU basketball was busy taking down Texas in convincing fashion, the BYU football program was in the middle of an important recruiting weekend. The Cougars hosted a combination of 2024 and 2025 recruits on campus. One of those recruits was priority quarterback target Grady Adamson. We caught up with Adamson to recap his BYU unofficial visit.

Adamson is a dual-threat quarterback from Oklahoma with competing offers from Boston College, Pitt, Tulsa, UNLV, USF, and Arkansas State among others. It doesn't take long to see why his recruiting profile has grown since the end of his junior season, and why BYU has prioritized him.

As a junior, he threw for 2,600 yards and 28 touchdowns to just 4 interceptions. He also ran for 600 yards and 7 touchdowns. Adamson has a big arm, he can make all the throws, and he forces defenses to account for his running ability. Perhaps most notably, Adamson possesses the coveted ability to escape pressure, extend plays, and make plays off-script. He did all that while throwing just four interceptions.

When BYU offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick has had a quarterback like that under center, his offense has thrived. Zach Wilson and Jaren Hall routinely made game-changing plays after plays broke down, but they also protected the football.

His ability to make all the throws, stress defenses with his legs, and extend plays caught the attention of BYU's coaching staff.

Prior to being recruited by BYU, Adamson knew a little bit about BYU's history of quarterback success, but he knew relatively little the current version of the BYU football program. "I knew they had had some big-time QB prospects in the past and had a good history of quarterbacks, but didn’t really know what to expect with the coaches and how the program was run," Adamson said.

This was Adamson's first time on BYU's campus. "[My] first impression of campus was definitely the mountains and just how beautiful it all was," Adamson said. They definitely have one of the more stunning campuses."

Adamson attended the BYU basketball game against Texas. The Cougars took down the Longhorns in front of a sellout crowd. The game, and the crowd, stood out during his visit. "[My] favorite part was probably the basketball game. It just showed me the vibe of the school and how into athletics everyone is."

Adamson got in touch with BYU's staff through offensive analyst Matt Mitchell. At the time, Mitchell was one of two staff members elevated to recruit while BYU filled out its staff. "I’ve been in touch with them since December," Adamson told Cougs Daily. "Just started off texting with coach Mitchell and then he told me he wanted to come down and watch me throw, so we planned a day for him to visit."

BYU has been contacting him consistently ever since. BYU is one of five schools contacting Adamson the most He's also hearing a lot from Tulsa, South Florida, Boston College, and North Texas.

BYU would do very well to add Adamson to the pipeline at quarterback. He has the kind of skillset that could make him a multi-year starter at the Power Five level. Getting him on campus this early in the process is a great first step, but Adamson's recruiting profile will continue to grow over the next several months.
