Georgia Cornerback Therrian Alexander Reaffirms BYU Commitment

While on his official visit in Provo, BYU commit Therrian Alexander reaffirmed his commitment to the Cougars. Alexander recently received an offer from in-state Georgia Tech and the Yellow Jackets were trying to flip his commitment. Ultimately, his longstanding relationship with BYU's staff won out and Alexander will sign with BYU on Wednesday.

Alexander also received competing offers from Big 12 foes West Virginia and Houston after committing to BYU.
On Thursday, Alexander arrived in Utah for his BYU official visit. The official represented Alexander's first time on BYU's campus since he committed to the Cougars back in August. Getting Alexander, a Georgia native, on campus was especially important.
When Tre committed to the Cougars, he picked BYU over competing Power Five offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and NC State. He also held offers from the likes of UAB, Western Kentucky, and Georgia Southern among others.
Over the last several months, BYU's staff has worked diligently to keep Alexander in the fold while other Power Four programs have tried to swoop in late and flip his commitment. Georgia Tech posed the greatest threat, but Tre stayed true to his original commitment.
Alexander is a long, lean defensive back listed at 6-2.5 and 165 pounds. Cornerbacks with his size and speed are hard to find on the recruiting trail which is why he was coveted by various Power Five programs.
Alexander is one of BYU's highest-rated commits in the 2024 class and someone that BYU can build around on the defensive side. BYU cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford deserves a lot of credit for building a relationship with Alexander that was enough to over the geographical hurdles in Alexander's recruitment. Coach Kelly Poppinga was also a major player in his recruitment.
Alexander is one of a handful of important recruits that is on campus this weekend. With only one official visit weekend remaining before signing day, this weekend is one of the most important recruiting weekends of the year.
