Texas RB Landen Chambers De-Commits from BYU

On Friday, Texas running back prospect Landen Chambers decommitted from BYU. Chambers committed to BYU over the Summer after taking an unofficial visit in Provo. Since committing to BYU, Chambers has received a competing Power Five offer from Colorado and he also put together a productive senior season with over 1,600 rushing yards.

At the time of his commitment, Chambers held over one dozen competing scholarship offers. Since the end of his junior season, he racked up competing offers from Colorado State, Air Force, Tulsa, and Navy among others before receiving an offer from BYU. He also heard from a few PAC-12 programs like UCLA and Colorado, and he visited Utah earlier this year.
Chambers' decommitment is a notable loss for BYU's 2023 recruiting class. Running back is a position of need in this class and Chambers had the potential to be an early contributor at BYU.
With Chambers off the board, BYU needs to hold on to the commitment of Leo Pulalasi, a running back out of Washington. Since committing to BYU in June, Pulalasi has received competing offers from Washington State and Oregon State.
Even before the decommitment from Landen Chambers, BYU was likely going to look to the transfer portal for a running back. Given the Chambers news, expect another running back addition to the class of 2023. Whether it's through the transfer portal or the high school ranks remains to be seen.
