Three-Star Quarterback Enoch Watson Signs with BYU

Arizona native and three-star quarterback Enoch Watson is officially a member of the BYU football program. Watson signed his national letter of intent on Wednesday. BYU was the first school to extend Enoch a scholarship earlier this year, and it didn't take long for him to commit and secure his spot in BYU's recruiting class. Watson is the younger brother of 2023 signee Pierson Watson.
As a senior, Watson threw for 2,450 yards and 28 touchdowns. His TD/Int ratio was especially impressive. He only threw three interceptions all season. Watson prefers to throw, but he is athletic enough to make plays with his legs.
BYU Connections
Enoch is connected to the BYU football program in various ways. His older brother Pierson Watson signed with BYU as a linebacker during the last signing class. Pierson will join the program in a few years after he serves his mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Enoch and Pierson Watson are the nephews of former BYU linebackers Aaron Wagner and Jadon Wagner.
The connections don't stop there. Watson was coached by former BYU legends Ty Detmer and Max Hall at American Leadership Academy..
Path to Getting an Offer
Enoch had been in touch with BYU and offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick dating back multiple years. He attended a BYU camp after his freshman season. "That's when I first met Coach Roderick and Coach McDaniel," Watson said in an earlier interview. "After that first year, I went to camp again, stayed in touch and then once my junior year year hit, I could stay in contact with them."
During his high school career, Enoch split his time between football, basketball, and baseball. "My whole high school career, my whole life, I played all three sports and it was always one sport to the next. I never really had a break." Last Spring, Enoch stepped away from baseball to focus on his football recruitment. "It kind of helped me out to be honest," he said.
Other schools like Weber State, SUU, and North Dakota were recruiting Enoch. On the same day he received the offer from BYU, he was throwing for the coaching staff at Oregon State. "A lot of coaches have told me to come to their camps," Enoch said. "Coaches have been popping around to see me, but it's just about going through the process right now."
Enoch had the physical tools and potential to see his recruiting profile grow. Instead, he shut down his recruitment and committed to BYU. He has great size at 6'3 and he flashes his athleticism from the quarterback position. He is also accurate - he won the accuracy challenge at an Under Armour showcase earlier this year. He was also named co-MVP.
