Weekly NET: Cincinnati's NCAA Tournament Chances Take Hit Following Loss to West Virginia

The Bearcats just suffered their first Quad 3/4 loss of the season.

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bearcats are hanging right onto the edge of the NCAA tournament bubble after their first Quad 3/4 loss of the season against West Virginia.

Entering the game, UC made the dance in just 40 out of 86 verified bracket projections on Bracket Matrix. That's bound to fall in the next update, as they went from a 60.4% chance of making the field on TeamRankings to a 43.3% chance following the loss.

They did only drop one spot in the NET rankings though, from No. 33 to No. 34.

All in all, their chances to make the field have fallen the eighth-most of any team in the country over the past three weeks (-19.6%). Cincinnati now likely needs to go 2-2 over this ensuing stretch of Quad 1 games and can ill afford another Q3 loss in remaining games against Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and Kansas State.

The Bearcats' backs are up against the wall as they try to end this March Madness drought in the 2020s.
