Dabo Swinney shares his thoughts on Clemson's "deep and talented" wide receiver group.

Clemson is going to need some wideouts to step up in 2023. Head coach Dabo Swinney provided a preview of the unit heading into fall camp.

With new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley continuing to install his system, much of the attention is being paid to the wide receiver group. Coming off of an injury-riddled 2022, Clemson's receivers are hoping for better results in Riley's offense.

Head coach Dabo Swinney provided his take on the wide receiver room prior to Friday's practice. Laying out who to watch and a potential look at the depth chart.

"I think we got an incredibly deep and talented group," said Swinney. "I mean, it's gonna start with Beaux [Collins]. Beaux is a great player. There's a reason why he could go wherever he wanted to go in the country. And he had a good freshman year, and then last year unfortunately battled through some injuries. And things got off to a great start. But, you know, he's still a young player, he's gonna be a junior, and, man, he's really, really developed. I mean, if he stays healthy, he's going to have an amazing year. He's a really, really good player and a great kid. A great leader. He's super, super talented. He's fast, he's strong, he's polished. He really understands all the nuances of the position, and he's passionate about it. So, you know, like a lot of these guys, if they're available, they'll have a great year."

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik also pointed to Collins as a guy to watch this season during his appearance at ACC media days, but what will the rest of the receiving core look like?

"And then Antonio, coming off a Freshman All-American year. He's 195 pounds. He's locked in," said Swinney. "I mean, he had an amazing freshman year. And I think he's gonna build on that. And then it's, it's Cole [Turner] and Adam [Randall], and then Spec [Brannan Spector]. Those five, that's where it starts. If those five guys are available, we're gonna score a bunch of points. So I'm excited about the group and then and then we'll figure it out from there."

Those five aren't the only players Swinney is excited about. Noble Johnson, a three-star recruit out of Texas, is turning some heads as well.

"You know, Noble [Johnson] looks amazing. He's gotten his butt in shape from where he was in the spring, he's realized the kind of endurance he's got to have. He was about 210 lbs, yesterday. He'd gotten up to like 225 and [now] he's in amazing shape. His conditioning is where it needs to be... He's a super, super talented prospect, it's just getting here, and then physically, he can do it. I'm just anxious to see if he's a guy that's made a step."
