Incident Report Revealed Regarding Clemson DT Vic Burley's Arrest

The Clemson Tigers found out they will most likely be without graduate defensive tackle Vic Burley to begin the season, who was arrested on Saturday morning for disorderly conduct.

On Monday, the Clemson University Police Department released the incident report, providing more information regarding what happened with Burley’s situation.

He was found by the police at 2:15 a.m. asleep in his truck with the engine running, being woken up by two police officers at the scene, and then turning off his car. Burley’s truck was in a University parking spot on campus, being uneven in the space. His rear driver's side was impeding on the roadway, which was happening during a rainy night.

With Burley was another Clemson student, unidentified, “lying on the grass” next to his truck. The Clemson defensive lineman was asleep in the driver’s seat when the police officer went up to the student in the grass.

Burley would later say that he was waiting for his friend and his fianceé to give them rides home after being present in downtown Clemson. When the police officers got him out of his truck, they smelled an odor of marijuana.

“Victor spoke with slurred speech and seemed disoriented,” the police report said. “Victor’s eyes were drooping, and when asked for his identification, he struggled to remove it from his wallet after initially attempting to hand us his wallet.”

While out of the car, Burley was without his left shoe, which the officer’s report said that “he did not ask for it until later in the interaction.”

After they placed the lineman under arrest for public disorderly conduct, the officer searched the vehicle and found a THC vape and a Glock-19 handgun in the backseat of the truck. After taking Burley to the police station, the officer also noted “the odor of an alcoholic beverage from my vehicle”.

Clemson Athletics came out with a statement on Saturday afternoon, with head coach Dabo Swinney saying that the Tigers are “extremely disappointed by his actions and decisions.” It is unclear when, or if, Burley will be back at all during the season.

A former five-star recruit from the 2023 class, Burley battled injuries in his freshman season, missing it all, but was a contributor over the last two seasons. Over his Clemson career, he’s recorded 15 total tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and a pass breakup in 21 games, starting in one of them.

However, he was supposed to be a key player on the defensive line next season for the Tigers, and it will be a vital loss for the program with LSU on the horizon on Sept. 5.
