Colorado (14-5, 5-3 Pac-12) tries to notch their fourth straight win as they head to the Emerald City to take on Pac-12 rival Washington (11-8, 3-5 Pac-12. This is the second meeting in the past month between both schools. Tad Boyle’s Buffs stole a 73-69 win from the Huskies on December 29th in Boulder. They’re still looking for their first Pac-12 road win of the season and come into the game with some momentum after a 90-57 victory over Oregon State. The Buffaloes had six players in double figures and were led by Tristan da Silva who had 19 points.

On the other hand, Washington is needing to bounce back after suffering a 90-80 loss against Stanford. The Huskies had five players in double figures, including a “twice as nice” double-double effort from Keion Brooks Jr and Wilhelm Breidenbach. They combined for 30 points and 23 rebounds in a losing effort. What’s important to note is that Washington is 8-2 at home this year and have not lost to CU in Seattle since 2015.

The Huskies come into the night averaging 80.3 points per game (3rd, Pac-12). Brooks leads that charge, averaging 20.2 point per game which puts him 2nd in the Pac-12 and 23rd nationally. He also averages 7.3 rebounds per game (6th, Pac-12).

Washington’s backcourt features Kentucky transfer Sahvir Wheeler, who is one of the best dime droppers in the game. He brings that vision and passing prowess to the Huskies lineup, averaging 5.9 assists per game (2nd, Pac-12). He dished out seven during the last meeting with the Buffs, but has struggled in the last three games just producing a total of eight assists. He will be the key to the Husky offense and if CU needs to force him to commit turnovers

The good news for Colorado is that they have double digit wins in their last three games. However, all of those were at CU Event Center where they are 12-0 this season. The Buffs are the Pac-12’s second-best scoring team with 81.1 points per game. They’re also one of the best in field goal percentage at 50.3 percent. Boyle’s squad has proven they can score from inside and out, but they’ll need to shake the road troubles

Colorado has three scorers that can take over with KJ Simpson leading the team. The John Wooden Award semifinalist averages 19.1 points per game. Not far behind him is Tristan da Silva. The Buffs big man was out for a stretch due to injury, but has made his presence known by averaging 15.9 points per game. Like da Silva, Cody Williams recently returned after missing five games. The former McDonald’s All-American averages 15.1 points per game.

The big key for CU’s success against Washington could rely on how well Eddie Lampkin Jr. plays. He has been a force on the glass with 7.4 rebounds per game this season (5th, Pac-12). Lampkin was huge when these teams met last month with a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds. He will try to slow down Brooks and the Washington’s bigs from establishing anything in the paint.

Colorado is fully healthy and has a great chance at getting their first win on the road this season. The Buffs were without da Sliva and Williams when they last did battle. It creates problems for Washington with the standouts back in the starting lineup. If CU can also get their fourth straight double digit win, it will be a huge step towards securing a possible tournament spot.
