Colorado AD Rick George asks fans to refrain from 'storming the field'

The celebration needs to go elsewhere with a huge celebrity population on the sidelines

Rick George is all for celebrating, but wants to keep it off the field. Colorado's athletic director sent an email to students and season ticket holders on Thursday requesting anyone in attendance for football games not rush the field. He cited safety concerns as well as university and Pac-12 guidelines in making the request.

Colorado fans have experienced two wins at home this season over rivals Nebraska and Colorado State. Both contests ended with a sell out crowd pouring onto the field. It doesn't seem like the Pac-12 was happy about either event.

"Although 'rushing the field' has long been a college football tradition, in recent years, many schools and conferences are cracking down on the practice, as it greatly jeopardizes the safety of players, coaches, staff and other fans," George said in the email. "Rushing the field is in violation of University and Pac-12 regulations.

"Unfortunately, after both of our first two home games, we received an inordinate number of complaints regarding fan conduct (especially student conduct), and after both of our home game victories, students and fans 'rushed the field.' Such conduct is unacceptable, and I ask you to please refrain from such behavior for any future events."

While you can request fans to stay off the field, if CU beats USC this weekend it's going to be hard to hold the flood gates. A FOX Big Noon Saturday feature with the Buffs 20-point underdogs. Also, Colorado has never beat USC in 16 tries going back to 1927.
